Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - Taking You for a friend, I have rashly called You Krishna, Yadava, and Friend, out of ignorance of Your greatness, and I have been negligent in my regard.

नम: पुरस्तादथ पृष्ठतस्ते नमोऽस्तु ते सर्वत एव सर्व |
अनन्तवीर्यामितविक्रमस्त्वं सर्वं समाप्नोषि ततोऽसि सर्व: ||40||

Taking You for a friend, I have rashly called You Krishna, Yadava, and Friend, out of ignorance of Your greatness, and I have been negligent in my regard.

Ajanata: Ignorantly or unknowingly.
Vapuh: Body or form.
Sakha: Friend.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - For all that I may have done irreverently in jest, whether while resting, sitting, or eating, alone or in company, O unblemished one, I seek Your forgiveness.

सखेति मत्वा प्रसभं यदुक्तं हे कृष्ण हे यादव हे सखेति |
अजानता महिमानं तवेदं मया प्रमादात्प्रणयेन वापि ||41||

For all that I may have done irreverently in jest, whether while resting, sitting, or eating, alone or in company, O unblemished one, I seek Your forgiveness.

Vihara: Leisure or play.
Pranayena: Out of affection or love.
Kshamaye: To seek forgiveness.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - You are the father of this world, of the moving and the unmoving. You are the supreme guru, and there is none equal to You. How could anyone be superior?

यच्चावहासार्थमसत्कृतोऽसि विहारशय्यासनभोजनेषु |
एकोऽथवाप्यच्युत तत्समक्षं तत्क्षामये त्वामहमप्रमेयम् ||42||

You are the father of this world, of the moving and the unmoving. You are the supreme guru, and there is none equal to You. How could anyone be superior?

Guru-gariyan: Greater than the guru.
Lokasya: Of the world.
Prabhava: Unmatched greatness.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - Therefore, bowing down and prostrating my body, I seek Your mercy, O adorable Lord. As a father forgives a son, a friend forgives a dear friend, or a lover forgives a beloved, O God, please forgive me.

पितासि लोकस्य चराचरस्य त्वमस्य पूज्यश्च गुरुर्गरीयान् |
न त्वत्समोऽस्त्यभ्यधिक: कुतोऽन्यो लोकत्रयेऽप्यप्रतिमप्रभाव ||43||

Therefore, bowing down and prostrating my body, I seek Your mercy, O adorable Lord. As a father forgives a son, a friend forgives a dear friend, or a lover forgives a beloved, O God, please forgive me.

Pranidhaya: Prostrating.
Putrasya: Of a son.
Sodhum: To forgive or endure.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - I rejoice seeing Your universal form that I had never seen before, but my mind is also tormented with fear. Show me, O God of gods, Your four-armed form again.

तस्मात्प्रणम्य प्रणिधाय कायं प्रसादये त्वामहमीशमीड्यम् |
पितेव पुत्रस्य सखेव सख्यु: प्रिय: प्रियायार्हसि देव सोढुम् ||44||

I rejoice seeing Your universal form that I had never seen before, but my mind is also tormented with fear. Show me, O God of gods, Your four-armed form again.

Dipti: Brightness or splendor.
Vishva-murte: Universal form.
Kiriti: Crowned.

अदृष्टपूर्वं हृषितोऽस्मि दृष्ट्वा भयेन च प्रव्यथितं मनो मे |
तदेव मे दर्शय देवरूपं प्रसीद देवेश जगन्निवास ||45||

O thousand-armed one, I desire to see You again in Your four-armed form with a crown, a mace, and a discus in Your hand.

Chatur-bhujena: Four-armed form.
Vishvesha: Lord of the universe.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - The Blessed Lord said: Out of compassion for you, O Arjuna, I have revealed My universal form through My divine power. It is an infinite, effulgent, and original form that no one has seen before.

किरीटिनं गदिनं चक्रहस्त- मिच्छामि त्वां द्रष्टुमहं तथैव |
तेनैव रूपेण चतुर्भुजेन सहस्रबाहो भव विश्वमूर्ते ||46||

The Blessed Lord said: Out of compassion for you, O Arjuna, I have revealed My universal form through My divine power. It is an infinite, effulgent, and original form that no one has seen before.

Atmayogat: By divine power.
Tejomayam: Full of light.
Adyam: Primordial or original.

Arjuna’s desire to see Krishna’s four-armed form reflects the human need for an approachable aspect of divinity. It signifies a transition from awe and fear of the universal form to devotion and comfort in a familiar divine image.
