Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - Some are seen caught between Your teeth with their heads crushed. As rivers flow into the ocean, so do these heroes enter Your blazing mouths.

वक्त्राणि ते त्वरमाणा विशन्ति दंष्ट्राकरालानि भयानकानि |
केचिद्विलग्ना दशनान्तरेषु सन्दृश्यन्ते चूर्णितैरुत्तमाङ्गै: ||27||

Some are seen caught between Your teeth with their heads crushed. As rivers flow into the ocean, so do these heroes enter Your blazing mouths.

Churnitair-uttamangaih: Crushed heads.
Dashanantareishu: Between the teeth.
Vilasanti: Shining or appearing.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - As moths rush with great speed into a blazing fire to perish, even so, these creatures swiftly enter Your mouths to meet their doom.

यथा नदीनां बहवोऽम्बुवेगा: समुद्रमेवाभिमुखा द्रवन्ति |
तथा तवामी नरलोकवीरा विशन्ति वक्त्राण्यभिविज्वलन्ति ||28||

As moths rush with great speed into a blazing fire to perish, even so, these creatures swiftly enter Your mouths to meet their doom.

Samudram: Ocean or sea.
Abhimukha: Moving towards.
Dravanti: Flowing.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - Swallowing all the worlds on every side, You are seen devouring them with flaming mouths. Your effulgence fills the entire universe and burns it, O Vishnu.

यथा प्रदीप्तं ज्वलनं पतङ्गा विशन्ति नाशाय समृद्धवेगा: |
तथैव नाशाय विशन्ति लोका- स्तवापि वक्त्राणि समृद्धवेगा: ||29||

Swallowing all the worlds on every side, You are seen devouring them with flaming mouths. Your effulgence fills the entire universe and burns it, O Vishnu.

Patangah: Moths.
Jvalanam: Flame or fire.
Samriddha-vega: With great speed.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - Tell me who You are, of fearful form. I bow to You, O Supreme God; be merciful. I wish to understand You as the primal being, for I do not comprehend Your activity.

लेलिह्यसे ग्रसमान: समन्ताल्लोकान्समग्रान्वदनैर्ज्वलद्भि: |
तेजोभिरापूर्य जगत्समग्रं भासस्तवोग्रा: प्रतपन्ति विष्णो ||30||

Tell me who You are, of fearful form. I bow to You, O Supreme God; be merciful. I wish to understand You as the primal being, for I do not comprehend Your activity.

Tejobhih: With radiance.
Samagran: All-encompassing.
Pratapanti: Burning or blazing.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - The Blessed Lord said: I am Time, the destroyer of the world, and I have come here to annihilate all people. Even without your participation, all the warriors will perish.

आख्याहि मे को भवानुग्ररूपो नमोऽस्तु ते देववर प्रसीद |
विज्ञातुमिच्छामि भवन्तमाद्यं न हि प्रजानामि तव प्रवृत्तिम् ||31||

The Blessed Lord said: I am Time, the destroyer of the world, and I have come here to annihilate all people. Even without your participation, all the warriors will perish.

Kalo’smi: I am Time.
Pravrittah: Engaged or active.
Samahartum: To annihilate.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - Therefore, arise, O Arjuna, and attain fame. Conquer your enemies and enjoy a flourishing kingdom. By Me, they have already been slain; be an instrument only.

श्रीभगवानुवाच कालोऽस्मि लोकक्षयकृत्प्रवृद्धो लोकान्समाहर्तुमिह प्रवृत्त: |
ऋतेऽपि त्वां न भविष्यन्ति सर्वे येऽवस्थिता: प्रत्यनीकेषु योधा: ||32||

Therefore, arise, O Arjuna, and attain fame. Conquer your enemies and enjoy a flourishing kingdom. By Me, they have already been slain; be an instrument only.

Savyasachin: Ambidextrous, referring to Arjuna.
Yasho: Fame or glory.
Nimitta-matram: A mere instrument.

Visvarupa Darsana Yogah - Drona, Bhishma, Jayadratha, Karna, and other brave warriors have already been destroyed by Me. Kill them and do not fear. Fight, and you shall conquer your enemies in battle.

तस्मात्त्वमुत्तिष्ठ यशो लभस्व जित्वा शत्रून्भुङ् क्ष्व राज्यं समृद्धम् |
मयैवैते निहता: पूर्वमेव निमित्तमात्रं भव सव्यसाचिन् ||33||

Drona, Bhishma, Jayadratha, Karna, and other brave warriors have already been destroyed by Me. Kill them and do not fear. Fight, and you shall conquer your enemies in battle.

Jayadratha: King of Sindhu and a Kaurava ally.
Raney: In battle.
Sapatnan: Enemies or rivals.
